Dr. Ormsby is now offering Xeomin, a treatment for wrinkle reduction and one of the new competitors
for Botox® Cosmetic. Call our office to learn more.
BOTOX Cosmetic vs. XEOMIN®
Xeomin® and BOTOX Cosmetic are very similar injectable neurotoxins that can temporarily inhibit overactive facial muscles from contracting. Both Xeomin and BOTOX Cosmetic are composed with a diluted form of botulinum toxin type A. These injectable treatments can help patients achieve and maintain smoother, more youthful-looking skin. Depending upon the patient’s unique needs, Xeomin may be a less expensive alternative to BOTOX Cosmetic. During the consultation process, Dr. Marcia Ormsby can recommend which injectable treatment or treatments might best meet your cosmetic goals. The dermal fillers Restylane® and Radiesse™ can also be used to reduce the signs of age by adding volume and contouring the face.
How Does BOTOX Cosmetic Work?
BOTOX Cosmetic is a purified component derived from a bacteria called botulinum toxin type A. It works by preventing certain facial muscles from contracting, thereby relaxing the skin in the treatment areas and causing lines and wrinkles to fade. The results of BOTOX Cosmetic are almost instant, dramatically reducing the effects of aging for a more youthful appearance.
What Can I Expect During the BOTOX Cosmetic Procedure?
BOTOX Cosmetic is carefully administered in the target areas to ensure beautiful and natural-looking results. It requires no anesthesia and can be repeated as necessary. Each customized treatment plan typically takes about 15 minutes to perform, with most patients getting back to their daily routines as soon as they walk out of the office.
*Individual Results May Vary
Are There Any Side Effects from BOTOX Cosmetic?
Most patients experience little to no side effects from their BOTOX Cosmetic treatment. Some patients may notice slight redness or bruising at the injection site, though these side effects typically resolve very quickly. In rare cases, blurry vision, flu-like symptoms, or drooping of the eyelids may occur. If you experience any of these rare side effects, please contact our office.
How Long Does BOTOX Cosmetic Last?
Results from BOTOX Cosmetic generally last between three and six months, with many patients opting for follow-up treatments when the effects of their BOTOX Cosmetic wear off.
How Much Does BOTOX Cosmetic Cost?
Dr. Ormsby thoroughly examines your facial wrinkles and discusses your personal cosmetic goals before designing a customized BOTOX Cosmetic treatment plan. The cost of your BOTOX Cosmetic treatment will vary accordingly, depending upon the extent of your facial wrinkling and the total number of areas to be treated. Our patients can take advantage of our plastic surgery financing options to find a payment method that works within their budget.
