DR. MARCIA ORMSBY: I came to plastic surgery as an artist. From the time I was small, I wanted to portray what I saw on canvas and in three dimensions and sculpture. When I realized that I was a healer, I realized I had to go to medical school to offer my patients the technical expertise, and then to general surgery and plastic surgery training which did occur in New York City. When I finished my training in New York City, I selected Annapolis specifically because of its beauty and because of its association with the medical centers here.

As an artist I believe that I offer my patients a special view of them. What they can be. What I see them to be apart from the way they see themselves. What I need to know gets in the way of how they see themselves as beautiful. And once I can learn that, then I can affect the change that they desire.
