Achieve a Youthful Face with Fat Grafting
Over the years, our skin begins to thin and lose its elasticity, which often results in lines and folds in the face. Dr. Marcia Ormsby offers a variety of options for her patients to rejuvenate their appearance, including facelift surgery to reduce signs of wrinkles and tighten the skin, as well as Restylane ® injections to temporarily fill lines and wrinkles and add volume to facial features. While these treatments often provide beautiful results, some patients can also benefit from another procedure that can enhance their appearance using only natural substances found in their own body: fat grafting.
The fat grafting procedure involves transferring fat cells from one area of the body — often the thighs or abdomen — and injecting them into the area targeted for rejuvenation. When the body accepts the transfer of the fat cells, new skin and tissues can be formed in the treatment area to replace what’s been lost over time. Once the excess fat cells have been removed through liposuction, they are filtered and purified. Dr. Ormsby then precisely injects the cells one droplet at a time into the target areas, so the body has the ability to accept as many of the fat cells as possible. Dr. Ormsby says this treatment can smooth out lines and wrinkles on the face with results that can sometimes last for years.
In addition to achieving younger-looking skin, a fat transfer can also be done to minimize the appearance of scars or mild aesthetic defects. With its ability to create semi-permanent and even permanent results in some cases, fat grafting can be an effective and worthwhile treatment for many patients.
For an example of how the procedure can enhance one’s appearance, take a look at the before and after pictures displayed below of a patient who recently had the procedure done in combination with a facelift. Dr. Ormsby gives more details about the patient and how the results impacted her life in the blog post entitled “Patients Receive Combination Procedures for Facial Rejuvenation.”
